Turnkey is building programmable guardrails infrastructure for the autonomous economy. Founded by the team that scaled Coinbase Custody to $100M+ ARR, the company focuses on enabling organizations to operate safely with autonomous decision-making and value movement at scale.
You'll join a small platform team that partners with nearly every engineering team at Turnkey. Your mission is to help the organization build faster, scale more confidently, and make better decisions through tooling, practices, and systemic problem-solving. You'll work independently across product and infrastructure teams, gathering requirements and translating them into shared solutions that work across team boundaries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build tooling for performance analysis and observability, enabling teams to understand system behavior and make data-driven decisions
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and security teams to understand requirements, translate technical tradeoffs for stakeholders, and develop cross-functional solutions
- Identify systemic issues across infrastructure and product, driving them to resolution
- Anticipate scaling bottlenecks and proactively take systems from current to target scale before incidents occur
- Level up other teams by introducing better tooling, practices, and measurement-driven habits around SLOs and observability
- Raise the technical bar through design reviews, documentation, and mentorship
- Communicate technical complexity clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
This role is ideal for someone who has experienced growth from 1 to 10x scale and gets energy from stepping outside their domain to solve problems wherever they sit.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or SRE with substantial distributed systems experience
- Proven track record designing, building, scaling, and operating robust, reliable distributed systems in production
- Working experience with Golang, AWS, Postgres, and Kubernetes
- Experience building tooling for performance and observability (metrics, tracing, profiling, logging, alerting, or similar)
- Data-driven approach: define metrics, instrument systems, and tell the story of system/team progression from X to Y
- Record of leveling up teams beyond your own through tooling, practices, or decision-making habits
- Clear communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to understand how other teams work and their needs
Style points (nice-to-have):
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform or similar)
- Experience in security-sensitive or high-assurance environments (TEEs, secure enclaves, key management, regulated infrastructure)
- Fluency in Go
- Experience with incident management and post-incident learning programs
- Open source contributions or public technical writing
