Salary: USD 150,000 - 190,000 / annual
Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG platforms and diagnostics. The company serves two markets: Life Sciences partners conducting clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders, and a Diagnostics business building comprehensive at-home assessment platforms combining EEG and cardiopulmonary signals.
As a Senior Mobile App Engineer, you will lead development of cross-platform React Native applications that patients and clinicians use with EEG headbands and other wearables. Your work directly impacts how people capture high-fidelity neurological data and navigate clinical trials and at-home diagnostics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead development of React Native mobile applications across iOS and Android
- Design and implement UX workflows for clinical trial participants and at-home diagnostic patients
- Own the user experience, performance, reliability, and observability of apps and features you build
- Integrate with native iOS and Android BLE device SDKs to cleanly expose device capabilities
- Partner with Devices team, Platform teams, and product designers to build user-centric mobile capabilities integrated with Beacon's broader product ecosystem
- Help shape the roadmap and technical direction of the mobile platform
In your first 3–6 months, you might build new in-app features to validate EEG signal quality, streamline patient and trial participant onboarding, deploy features for Clinical Operations compliance tracking, and improve app performance and release reliability across the Expo-based build pipeline.
Beacon maintains robust asynchronous work practices and has office hubs in Boston and New York. The company considers candidates based anywhere in the US Eastern time zone.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of mobile development experience, including substantial production experience shipping and maintaining React Native apps on both iOS and Android
- Strong TypeScript skills and familiarity with React Native, Expo, and GitHub
- Experience with app state management, offline-first data handling, and app store release processes
- Product mindset with deep care for UX, edge cases, and performance
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in collaborative, asynchronous environments
BONUS EXPERIENCE:
- BLE peripheral device integration into iOS and/or Android applications
- Sensor integration or health data streams
- Native code (Swift or Kotlin) or native module development for React Native
- Medical devices, EEG, or wearables experience
- Clinical trial, patient-facing, or regulated environment apps
- Open source mobile or React Native contributions
