Salary: USD 113,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Rocket Motor Systems (RMS) team, responsible for designing and analyzing next-generation solid rocket motors. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense technology with a company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, and sensor fusion.
You will conduct mechanical design and analysis of solid rocket motor components including motor cases, nozzles, propellant grains, igniters, and ignition safety components. Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership and guidance to component-level design engineers, performing CAD design activities, conducting finite element analysis of structural and thermal systems, generating and reviewing engineering drawings, and creating technical reports and presentations. You will present findings to peers and customers in design reviews, support prototyping and manufacturing operations at Anduril facilities and supplier sites, and own the development of critical systems from conception through completion.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of mechanical design and analysis experience, a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering, proficiency with CAD and FEA software, solid understanding of hardware manufacturability and GD&T, strong communication skills, ability to travel 10-25% as needed, and eligibility to obtain and hold a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include technical leadership experience, initiative and ownership mindset, experience with NX CAD and Abaqus FEA software, GD&T certification, expertise in engineering tool development using Excel, MATLAB, or Python, and prior experience with propulsion systems.
