The company's mission is to enable profitable, low-emission extraction of minerals needed for lithium-ion battery manufacturing and the broader energy transition.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer (titled "Senior Systems Engineer" in the posting) will lead the design, integration, and performance optimization of Nth Cycle's electroextraction systems. This is a technical leadership role requiring ownership of system-level architecture and cross-disciplinary coordination across mechanical, electrical, process, and controls engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning system-level architecture and requirements definition for electroextraction platforms
- Leading integration efforts across mechanical, electrical, process, and controls teams to meet performance, safety, and reliability targets
- Driving design reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments at the system level
- Defining and overseeing verification and validation plans, including system-level testing and commissioning
- Leading root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action efforts for complex, cross-disciplinary issues
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers
- Partnering with manufacturing, supply chain, and field service teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and scalable
- Supporting scale-up efforts from pilot to commercial deployment, including site installation and commissioning
- Contributing to systems engineering processes, tools, and documentation standards
- Communicating technical status, risks, and trade-offs to leadership, customers, and partners
The role is based in Burlington, MA and involves hands-on technical work taking systems from design through pilot and commercial deployment.
