Scalable Capital, a leading digital investment and banking platform with full banking license, is seeking an experienced Kotlin/Java software engineer to build a new banking platform serving customers across Europe. You will work alongside a highly motivated team of software engineers and academics implementing innovative financial services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building a new platform using cutting-edge technology and modern software development practices
- Translating business challenges into technical solutions
- Designing and implementing interfaces with major players in the financial industry
- Contributing to a loosely-coupled, scalable architecture serving over one million clients managing €50+ billion
The role offers the opportunity to work on backend systems that power professional investment services, including stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, derivatives, wealth management, and banking products. You will be part of a fast-growing European fintech startup with offices in Munich, Berlin, Vienna, Milan, and London, employing over 700 people.

Requirements:
- University degree in computer science, engineering, sciences, or comparable qualification
- Experience with Kotlin, Docker, Spring Boot, cloud infrastructure, and event-based asynchronous architectures
- Proficiency in modern software development processes (agile, self-sufficient teams, CI/CD, test automation)
- Experience designing and implementing loosely-coupled, scalable architectures
- Profound understanding of RESTful API design
- Passion for well-architected, testable, and documented code
- Strong analytical thinking in technical and product domains
- Excellent communication skills across engineering, product, and stakeholder audiences
- AWS, Terraform, Python, and GraphQL experience is a strong plus
- Background in financial services is a strong plus
