TensorWave is building large-scale infrastructure platforms to support high-performance AI workloads across multiple data centers. The company operates GPU-intensive systems, high-throughput networking, and rapidly scaling compute clusters.
As Senior Hardware Diagnostics Engineer, you will own the firmware lifecycle across BIOS, BMC, NIC, GPU, and storage controllers, including version qualification, approved baselines, staged rollout, and rollback procedures. You'll design and build the validation harness that qualifies firmware releases before production deployment, including regression and performance comparison between versions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building automation against Redfish, IPMI, and vendor management APIs to run firmware and validation work at fleet scale
- Defining burn-in test matrices, thresholds, and evidence retention standards
- Making fleet-wide changes safe through pre-flight validation, blast radius control, staged waves, and tested rollback paths
- Leading root cause analysis on hardware and firmware failures, including PCIe error analysis, sensor and event log forensics, and thermal/power telemetry analysis
- Owning technical escalation with OEM, ODM, and silicon vendors on firmware defects
- Preparing validation and bring-up capability for next-generation AMD platforms
- Mentoring junior diagnostics engineers and converting recurring findings into runbooks and tooling
- Participating in incident response and contributing to operational documentation
This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure operations, hardware validation, and vendor management. You'll be the escalation point for failures that don't make sense and will drive significant improvements in how the company qualifies and deploys firmware at scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years in infrastructure engineering, hardware validation, systems engineering, or closely related field
- Deep hands-on experience with BMCs and out-of-band management (Redfish, IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, or equivalent), including scripted interaction
- Direct firmware experience flashing, qualifying, and troubleshooting BIOS, BMC, and device firmware on enterprise servers
- Strong Linux systems skills: boot process, kernel and driver behavior, hardware diagnostics (dmesg, lspci, ipmitool, SMART, vendor CLIs)
- Ability to read low-level hardware signals: PCIe topology and error output, SEL and sensor data, thermal and power telemetry
- Python for automation against REST APIs (Redfish, vendor tooling, internal systems)
- Rigorous diagnostic methodology: hypothesis formation, test design, variable isolation, and evidence documentation
- Experience driving hardware issues with vendors to resolution
- Clear technical writing for runbooks, RCAs, and vendor escalations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AMD GPU and ROCm experience (amd-smi, rocm-smi, ROCm Validation Suite)
- GPU and HPC validation at scale: stress testing, collective communication testing (RCCL/NCCL), node health frameworks
- Low-level bus and firmware work: I2C, SMBus, BMC firmware behavior, Redfish schema extensions
- Kernel-level debugging and crash dump analysis
- Ansible for fleet operations and Git-based CI/CD workflows
- NetBox or other DCIM and IPAM tooling experience
- Prior work at OEM, ODM, or hyperscaler on hardware bring-up or validation
