Heidi Health is building an AI Care Partner platform for clinicians, transforming healthcare by reducing administrative burden and strengthening the human connection in medicine. The platform has processed 175 million patient visits, supported 67 million clinical hours, and now serves 2.8 million patient sessions weekly across 190+ countries in 110 languages and 200+ specialties. The company has grown ARR from $1M to $50M in two years and recently raised $340M (Series C led by Blackbird plus $240M growth investment from General Catalyst).
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you will own features end-to-end: designing the data model, building Python backend services, and shipping React/TypeScript interfaces. You'll work alongside the engineers who built Heidi, shipping AI products that change how healthcare operates.
Key responsibilities:
- Own features from database to browser: design data models, build Python services, ship React and TypeScript interfaces, then iterate based on clinician usage
- Build fast, accessible interfaces in React, TypeScript, and Next.js that perform reliably under real clinical workloads
- Design and run high-performance backend services in Python with MongoDB and Redis for storage and caching
- Design APIs for engineering and AI teams to build on, owning versioning, documentation, testing, and security
- Develop and manage message queue systems for real-time data processing
- Shape cloud infrastructure for scalability and reliability
- Partner with product, design, and AI engineers to turn briefs into shipped workflows
- Write testable, communicative code that colleagues can extend months later
The role emphasizes full-stack ownership, shipping hard technical products, and understanding trade-offs across the entire stack. You'll thrive in a flat, flexible team and pick up the specifics of building AI products for clinicians across diverse healthcare systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with production work on both frontend and backend
- Strong React and TypeScript skills, plus Next.js or comparable framework; deep browser knowledge (rendering performance, state management, accessibility)
- Python in production: building, testing, and running backend services
- Hands-on MongoDB and Redis experience with sound judgment on data modeling and design patterns
- Experience building and managing message queue systems at scale
- Deep understanding of API design: security, versioning, performance, and client-server contracts
- Application and data security knowledge on both sides of the stack
- Experience integrating with third-party systems
- Testable, communicative code; fluency with source control and CI/CD pipelines
- Record of building systems that scale, stay up under load, and withstand security scrutiny
- Passion for AI demonstrated through hands-on building, prototyping, or side projects
- Default to building over requesting; confident thinking with openness to being wrong
