AtScale is a semantic layer platform that bridges complex cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery) with business users who need consistent, AI-ready analytics. We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain BI tool integrations across their full lifecycle.
In this role, you will own the design, development, and maintenance of BI tool integrations including the Excel plugin, Google Sheets add-on, and Looker integration. You will build and maintain converters that translate external semantic model formats into SML (AtScale's Semantic Modeling Language). You'll handle complex cross-protocol problems, including query translation between MDX, DAX, and SQL, while managing authentication and token flows.
You will reproduce, triage, and fix customer-reported bugs against real semantic models, turning recurring issues into durable fixes and better tests rather than one-off patches. You'll build and expand automated test coverage (integration and end-to-end) to catch adapter regressions before customers encounter them. You'll track moving targets such as Microsoft Office add-in APIs, Google Workspace add-on platform, and Looker/LookML changes, adapting integrations ahead of breaking changes.
Collaboration with product and support teams is essential to prioritize friction that matters most and communicate clearly with customers when issues are technical and externally visible. This is a high-ownership role with a tight feedback loop to real customer escalations, ideal for someone who thrives as an individual contributor driving real change.
AtScale offers a flexible, remote-friendly environment built on transparency and professional growth, with the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI and data during a major inflection point.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building and shipping production software, ideally client integrations, plugins, or SDKs
- Deep proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python
- Working knowledge of SQL and exposure to analytical query languages and semantics (MDX, DAX)
- Comfort with authentication and session mechanics (OAuth, tokens, and failure modes)
- Debugging temperament: ability to take vague customer reports and drive to root cause
- Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tools and good judgment about their application
- Expertise in testing methods (unit, integration, e2e) and tools (e.g., Jest), including approaches for mocking requests and responses
- Comfort in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly
- Value quality over speed and curiosity about using AI to improve efficiency
- Ability to work East Coast (ET) hours
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with semantic layers, OLAP, or BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos)
- Familiarity with XMLA/Tabular endpoints
- Background supporting enterprise B2B customers
- Familiarity with containers and infrastructure related to web apps (Docker)
