Owner is an AI-native platform helping local business owners (starting with restaurants) succeed online. The company provides an integrated system covering websites, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more—replacing the fragmented tooling most small businesses rely on today. Since 2020, Owner has generated tens of millions in revenue, processed over a billion dollars in online orders, and helped 20,000+ restaurant owners save nearly $200 million in fees. The team is in the low hundreds, with talent from Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, and other leading SMB software companies. As Senior Engineering Manager for OLO (the guest web ordering experience), you will lead a team of 6–10+ full-stack engineers building the core ordering funnel: menu, cart, checkout, promotions, photos, and automated menu quality systems that optimize ~10,000 merchant-written menus. Your responsibilities include: • Building and scaling an experimentation engine to push guest conversion toward 10% across checkout, fulfillment, merchandising, and promotions • Taking OLO upmarket to enterprise and multi-location brands, ensuring reliability and handling menu complexity at scale • Achieving >90% menu quality compliance (including POS-integrated menus) and building systems to keep live menus optimized as they change • Scaling photo coverage through guest sourcing, auto-replating, licensed catalogs, and AI-generated combo images, each tied to measured GPV lift • Rebuilding the promotions system: redemption UX, badges, auto-apply, and merchandising • Reducing fulfillment selection errors and completing the PostgreSQL migration You'll operate with ownership, urgency, and bias toward simplicity. This is a hands-on role requiring both product intuition and technical execution—you'll make hard prioritization calls, ship experiments that move revenue, and grow a team embodying engineering excellence. You'll partner closely with product, design, and adjacent teams. The tech stack includes React, Next.js, TypeScript for the guest web experience; Node.js, MongoDB (migrating to PostgreSQL), Temporal, and Datadog on the backend. TypeScript is used everywhere. Requirements: • 3+ years of engineering management, leading teams of 6–10+ engineers on customer-facing product • Track record running growth or conversion programs: metrics, A/B testing at scale, funnel analysis • Experience scaling a product for enterprise or multi-location customers • Strong prioritization skills: ability to take a roadmap larger than your team and make hard, clear calls • Technical credibility in full-stack web (React/TypeScript, Node.js) and data-heavy systems • Demonstrated care for team health and experience leading people through heavy or repetitive workloads • Excellent cross-functional partnership with PM, design, and adjacent teams
