Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing intelligent autonomous systems, aircraft, and simulation technologies for military and defense applications. The company operates globally with facilities across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
In this Senior Engineer role, you will lead the cybersecurity strategy and architecture for Shield AI's defense platforms. Your responsibilities include developing the platform's cybersecurity architecture, requirements, and protection strategy; performing threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and cyber risk assessments; and defining protections across secure boot, authentication, access control, encryption, key management, software updates, and data communications.
You will apply defense-in-depth principles across aircraft systems, networks, radios, data links, and external interfaces. A key responsibility is leading DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and developing required authorization evidence. You'll evaluate hardware, software, firmware, and supplier designs for cybersecurity risks, develop cybersecurity verification plans, and support vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and cyber-resiliency testing.
You will coordinate risk mitigation and corrective actions with engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and program leadership, ensuring cybersecurity solutions support aircraft safety, availability, and mission effectiveness. This is a technical leadership role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work across organizational boundaries.
