Shield AI is seeking a Senior Engineer for Autonomy Software Integration to join its defense-tech team. You will become a systems integration expert for autonomous robotics, developing deep expertise in Shield AI's AI-powered autonomy stack (Hivemind). Your responsibilities include:
**Core Responsibilities:**
- Develop expertise in configuring, deploying, and integrating multi-agent systems across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and flight platforms
- Understand the full autonomy system end-to-end, from sensor inputs to autonomous behaviors
- Collaborate cross-functionally with development teams to integrate autonomy algorithms, perception pipelines, middleware, and platform interfaces into the integrated product, ensuring seamless interoperability
- Lead integration of autonomy software onto new robotic hardware platforms (platform bring-up and validation)
- Configure sensor drivers, communication interfaces, and platform adapters to enable full autonomy stack functionality on prototype and production vehicles
- Develop integration tooling and infrastructure, including integration frameworks, deployment scripts, and configuration management tools for Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and flight environments
- Ensure autonomy stack operates reliably across all supported platforms, operating systems, and deployment configurations; identify and resolve cross-boundary integration issues
- Analyze system behavior using logs, telemetry, and rosbag data to diagnose integration defects; collaborate with developers to isolate issues and drive resolution
- Partner with DevOps teams to streamline integration pipelines, reduce build-to-deploy cycle times, and ensure robust continuous integration
- Validate system requirements and interface contracts; develop tooling to verify end-to-end system compliance and traceability
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 3–5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field; OR 2 years of experience with a master's degree
- Proficiency in Python or C++
- Experience with autonomous systems, server applications, or middleware
- Demonstrated experience designing integration workflows, communicating system dependencies, and triaging/reporting integration defects across subsystem boundaries
- Proficiency with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments
- Strong expertise with CI/CD pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions
- Excellent communication skills; capable of collaborating across teams and presenting to customers or technical leadership
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience building complex systems with strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
- Hardware or embedded systems experience
- Expert-level Python knowledge
- ROS experience
- White box testing experience
- Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and radio communications
- Experience designing automated tooling for GUI and server application testing
