XYZ Reality has built the world's first engineering-grade Augmented Reality solution for construction. Their technology, The Atom, is deployed on major projects globally to help construction teams build more accurately and efficiently. As a Series B company scaling across the UK, US and Europe, they are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices powering their BIM Platform.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role with broad ownership across cloud and platform infrastructure. You will work closely with Engineering, Data and Security teams to build reliable, scalable infrastructure while improving how developers deploy, monitor and troubleshoot services. The philosophy is that DevOps should be an enabler rather than a gatekeeper—building tooling, automation and self-service capabilities that allow engineering teams to move quickly and safely without unnecessary dependencies on DevOps.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and evolving Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters; building and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, ARM templates and Helm; designing and improving CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions; building observability across infrastructure and services through monitoring, logging, alerting and distributed tracing; improving platform reliability, scalability and performance through capacity planning and resource optimization; building and maintaining disaster recovery and failover strategies; strengthening infrastructure security across network policies, secrets management and platform hardening; establishing incident response processes and on-call practices; supporting reliable PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments; building self-service tooling and documentation; and supporting infrastructure for data pipelines and AI/ML model deployment.
You will have autonomy to identify infrastructure and engineering practice improvements and take ownership of implementing them. The role is based in the London office on a hybrid basis, with 3 days per week in the office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrable in-depth experience in DevOps, Infrastructure or Cloud Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, including cluster design, networking, storage, upgrades and troubleshooting
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Terraform, ARM templates or equivalent
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions
- Strong experience with containers and Docker
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting and observability within production environments
- Good knowledge of infrastructure security, including network segmentation, encryption, secrets management and audit logging
- Experience building automation and tooling using Python, Go, Bash or TypeScript
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience taking ownership of production infrastructure and incidents
- Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and clearly explain infrastructure trade-offs

- Strong AWS or GCP experience with ability to transfer knowledge to Azure
