Pasqal is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, harden, and operate the infrastructure powering PASQAL Cloud Platform, a managed service for quantum computing. You will take ownership of the public cloud architecture (primarily GCP), audit existing systems, and execute a sequenced improvement roadmap in close collaboration with the Infrastructure Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities include: - Improve and operate the platform on GCP, focusing on networking (VPC, load balancing, DNS, firewall policies, WAF), identity management (IAM, OIDC, workload identity), multi-region and multi-tenant architecture, resilience, and cost control. - Define and document governance rules, infrastructure standards, and golden paths (versioned modules, review rules, guardrails), ensuring adoption across teams. - Support software engineering teams on deployment automation, environment provisioning, and production readiness as an enabler. - Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and incident response; participate in on-call rotations and convert incidents into durable fixes. - Operate, configure, and secure GitLab infrastructure including CI/CD design, runners, permissions, secrets handling, supply-chain security, and instance hardening. - Propose and sequence improvement plans (migrations, refactors, hardening) without disrupting production. - Help team members grow through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing. The role is a senior individual contributor with design responsibility within a small Ops team. You will work primarily on cloud infrastructure but occasionally contribute to HPC cluster resources used for emulation. PASQAL Cloud runs on Kubernetes across several regional platforms in Europe and the Middle East, serving customers who submit quantum jobs to emulators and QPUs. REQUIREMENTS: Must-have: - Proven experience designing public cloud platforms, ideally on GCP (strong AWS expertise welcome with willingness to ramp up on GCP). - Ability to audit existing systems, prioritize improvements, and deliver changes incrementally. - Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, and cloud networking. - Hands-on GitOps and CI/CD expertise, including progressive rollouts and GitLab administration (GitHub also acceptable). - Solid knowledge of IAM, least privilege, secrets management, encryption, and vulnerability management. - Ability to participate confidently in on-call rotations. - Professional English proficiency for collaboration and documentation. - Clear communication skills to explain architectural choices and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences. - Autonomy and ability to take ownership, focus on results, and navigate ambiguity and legacy systems. - Collaborative mindset to work effectively across software, quantum research, and hardware teams. Nice-to-have: - Service mesh (Istio), external-dns, Grafana/LGTM observability stack, Cloud Armor. - Experience with regulated or audited environments (SOC2, ISO 27001, NCA CCC/ECC). - Multi-region or sovereign-cloud deployments. - Exposure to HPC and SLURM scheduling. - Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKS). - Experience with data engineering architectures.
