Text.ai is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Configuration team, which serves as the backbone of the company's platform. The Configuration team builds and maintains high-traffic services, public APIs (Configuration API, Integration API), and background processing mechanisms (Work-Queue) that power core functionality across the entire organization. You will work on feature flags, analytics proxies, and ensure that client settings and cross-domain tasks function reliably.
In this role, you will develop, scale, and maintain backend services primarily in Go, while also supporting and evolving existing Node.js services as the company continues its migration efforts. You'll design and optimize relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis). Day-to-day work includes a healthy mix of driving new feature development, maintaining existing systems, refactoring legacy code, and handling ad-hoc cross-team requests. You will take full ownership of your work from ticket pickup through production deployment and monitoring.
You'll participate in technical discussions and architectural decisions, advocating pragmatic solutions that balance trade-offs. The role requires someone with an ownership mindset who treats systems as products, takes full responsibility for production deployments, and has the initiative to solve problems independently without needing step-by-step guidance. You'll collaborate directly with other teams across the company to understand their needs and solve blockers.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience in product-focused environments
- Strong, hands-on production experience with Go (Golang) as primary tool
- Solid understanding of Node.js and willingness to work with it for maintenance and migration
- Solid experience designing, querying, and optimizing relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience operating services in production under high traffic and scale
- Proven track record of delivering features end-to-end independently
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred)
- Experience working with Redis and background task runners or work-queue mechanisms
