Enginy is a Barcelona-based AI-native GTM platform startup ranked #3 in Sifted 100: Southern Europe 2026. The company combines prospecting, enrichment, intent signals, AI research and outreach into one product for B2B sales teams. After raising a €5M seed round, Enginy is scaling internationally and building harder engineering problems where strong engineers have outsized impact.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own the engine behind the platform: high-throughput workflows, data pipelines and integrations with customer tools. You'll have real ownership from day one, making technical trade-offs and helping define how the company builds as it scales. Every lead found, every signal detected and every message sent runs through the backend you'll own.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable core services powering the platform engine
- Work with async architectures, data pipelines and workflow orchestration
- Design and implement production-grade APIs and integrations with external platforms (CRMs, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Optimize performance, debug complex issues and ensure strong observability across the system
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design and Frontend to ship complete features
- Help shape engineering practices, code quality and architecture as the company scales
- Own problems end-to-end: design → build → ship → observe → scale
The hiring process focuses on real engineering work: intro conversation about background and work environment, a short practical task based on a small version of the product (AI tools encouraged), a technical/product conversation on realistic engineering problems, and a final team-fit conversation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend focus
- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Solid understanding of modern API design and async workflows
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
- Ability to work autonomously, debug complex issues and ship high-quality code
- Strong communication skills and advanced English
- Bias for action and ownership; thrive in fast-moving startup environments
Nice to have:
- Experience with workflow engines (e.g., Temporal), distributed systems or microservices
- Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka or third-party API integrations
- CI/CD practice with GitHub Actions
- Experience in early-stage or fast-scaling startups
- Interest in B2B SaaS, sales tech or automation tools
