Double is a mission-driven fintech platform helping bookkeepers and accountants modernize their workflows. Founded in 2021 and backed by Y Combinator and founders from Lattice, Front, Superhuman, and Plaid, Double has raised $12M and serves thousands of bookkeepers managing books for US startups and small businesses.
You will ship software to production daily using coding agents, influence product direction through engineering decisions, and collaborate with a high-performing engineering, product, and design team. This is a hands-on role where you'll architect and build systems that meaningfully accelerate your team's velocity and solve hard problems—not just ship features on schedule.
The ideal candidate operates with high agency, identifying what needs to be done and driving it forward independently. You've previously built systems that made your team significantly faster or created internal tools others thought impossible. You're the type who asks "why isn't this moving faster?" and then takes action to fix it.
The tech stack is modern and type-safe: React + Redux Toolkit/React Query (TypeScript) on the front-end; Node.js + Express (TypeScript), TypeORM, and Postgres on the back-end. You'll work with AI agents in production and contribute to both front-end and back-end architecture.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of demonstrable experience architecting and developing applications with Node.js
- Demonstrable experience writing type-safe code with TypeScript
- Strong ES6 experience
- Experience using agents to ship to production
- Experience with TypeORM (plus)
- Experience with TanStack Query (plus)
