Ramp is building smart financial infrastructure for businesses, automating how over $275B in annualized spend flows through 85,000+ companies. The company handles payment authorization, risk flagging, spend categorization, and financial close processes. Ramp's median customer saves 7.5% on costs and grows revenue 16% in their first year.
The Accounting team builds systems that carry accounting context across Ramp's products, helping customers categorize and reconcile activity while keeping records synchronized. This Senior Backend Engineer role focuses on building reliable, accurate accounting workflows that reduce manual data correction and help finance teams understand their business better.
You will design and build backend services, APIs, and data models supporting accounting workflows across Ramp's platform. Key responsibilities include making financial data accurate, traceable, and resilient as transactions move through coding, reconciliation, and sync processes. You'll improve reliability and visibility of workflows spanning Ramp and customer accounting systems, including failure handling and change management. You'll partner with product, design, and engineering teams to understand finance team needs and translate them into practical technical designs. You own substantial projects end-to-end from design and implementation through launch, monitoring, and iteration. You'll also raise the engineering bar through thoughtful design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship of teammates.
Ramp values high agency, high urgency, and builders who own problems end-to-end. The company emphasizes slope over intercept—what you've built matters more than where you trained.
