Salary: USD 150,000 - 300,000 / annual

The company provides integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management, deployed across 170+ countries.
You'll join a small, dynamic team operating as a startup within the larger organization, focused on building cloud-managed access control systems. This is Verkada's second major product line, allowing users to manage doors, schedules, and user credentials from anywhere via laptop or phone. You'll have significant ownership and autonomy, working alongside firmware, backend, and frontend engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking less-than-fully-fleshed-out product ideas and driving them to completion
- Tackling large, complex problems with no clear answers
- Owning technical leadership of major systems
- Delivering best-in-class products and experiences, not just features
- Learning new technologies while contributing your expertise
- Growing with a fast-moving startup environment
You'll be self-motivated, excited by new products and startups, and capable of both teaching and learning from teammates. The role requires five days per week onsite in San Mateo.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or science
- 5+ years of industry software engineering experience
- Proficiency in at least one common server programming language (Python, Go)
- Experience in scalable distributed system design, including databases, queues, and blob storage
- Experience working in agile team software development environments
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week
