Juniper Square is a mission-driven platform serving the private markets industry, administering $300B+ and serving 2,300+ GPs. The company has built a unified operations platform combining technology, data, and fund administration, and is now scaling JunieAI, a purpose-built AI platform for private markets workflows.
The Applied AI team is Juniper Square's internal-first AI engineering organization, designing and building agents and intelligence layers that enable the company to operate in an agentic way. As a Senior Applied AI Engineer, you will own end-to-end delivery of AI-powered solutions: from understanding internal stakeholder problems through scoping, design, building, deployment, and ongoing operation. You will sit close to your users rather than working through a ticket queue, and success is measured by adoption and real-world impact.
You will partner with internal stakeholders across the executive team, sales, finance, HR, and marketing to identify workflows where custom agents create meaningful leverage. You'll translate ambiguous business problems into clear requirements and acceptance criteria, then carry solutions through their full lifecycle from prototype and validation through hardening, production deployment, and rollout. Your work will involve designing agentic systems (retrieval, context design, tool and MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses), building event-driven scalable systems for large-volume data and document ingestion, and collaborating with platform, R&D, and product engineering teams on core system integration.
You will make engineering trade-offs that prioritize reliability, security, and maintainability over shortcuts, finding speed through reuse. You own deployed solutions through adoption, including post-launch support, iteration on user feedback, and ongoing operation. You will produce documentation, train users, manage rollouts, and set the technical bar for less experienced engineers, growing toward leading projects of your own, including client-facing work as the team's scope expands.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional experience shipping production software end to end, with hands-on experience building AI-native applications or agents
- Strong systems design skills: ability to whiteboard real systems, including components, trade-offs, and iteration
- Full-stack engineering capability across data, services, user interfaces, and infrastructure
- Hands-on infrastructure ownership: deploying and operating applications on major cloud providers, with working knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production monitoring
- Fluency with AI-assisted development, paired with depth to understand, debug, and defend everything you ship
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business needs from internal stakeholders into requirements and deliver working software
- Strong product judgment: defining scope for first release, prioritizing, knowing when something is done
- Excellent written communication and ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues
- Potential to work directly with clients as team scope grows
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in private markets, financial services, or other regulated, data-sensitive domains
- Familiarity with application security and data handling practices for sensitive data under contractual and SOC 2 obligations, including multi-tenant isolation
- Experience building evaluation and regression testing for non-deterministic systems
- Experience with event-driven architectures and large-scale document processing
- Client-facing, consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering background
