Sentry is an application monitoring platform trusted by 200,000+ organizations that helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice. The Security Team is responsible for securing Sentry's customers, code, and infrastructure. This is a hands-on security engineering role focused on detection and response within a small, high-trust team operating at the frontier of securing AI-native development practices. In this role, you will maintain and improve detection engineering systems, including Sentry's owned detection stack and agentic triage with security response and orchestration automation. You'll perform security investigations and contribute to incident response across both Sentry's infrastructure and customer environments. You'll also contribute to identity and access management systems, which are critical to Sentry's security program. You'll have significant opportunity to grow across multiple security domains including application security, infrastructure security, governance, and privacy. As Sentry expands agentic product capabilities, you'll work at the frontier of novel security challenges introduced by AI-assisted engineering practices and complex cloud environments. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, building relationships with engineering teams, and using technical expertise to protect a fast-moving organization. You'll research and respond to emerging threats relevant to Sentry's evolving attack surface. The team values automation and systematic solutions over reactive manual processes, and prioritizes preventative controls and defense-in-depth strategies. You should enjoy operating in a developer-forward culture, reaching for automation first, and driving work end-to-end with ownership. The team operates with high autonomy and provides mentorship to support growth.
