Vital Bio is seeking a Scientist I focused on immunoassay development to join their diagnostic product team in Oakville, Ontario. In this role, you will design and execute experiments for immunoassay development, integration, and validation, working with technologies such as ELISA and lateral flow assays. You'll operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation including plate readers and liquid handlers, accurately document experimental results, and compile data for internal presentations. You will contribute to technical documentation, support technology transfer efforts, and assist with troubleshooting and continuous process improvement. The role requires strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as cGMP and ISO 13485. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including clinical, regulatory, engineering, quality, and manufacturing to support project timelines and deliverables. Lab organization responsibilities include inventory management and routine maintenance of supplies and equipment. You'll work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment where lab safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement are paramount. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field, plus 2+ years of laboratory experience in academic or industry settings. You should have a foundational understanding of immunoassay principles and laboratory best practices, basic hands-on experience with common lab techniques and data analysis tools, and strong organizational and communication skills. A collaborative mindset and commitment to lab safety and quality standards are essential. Bonus experience includes work with nanoparticles, microfluidics, automated laboratory systems, protein conjugation, immobilization chemistry, statistical analyses, technology transfer, assay development, regulatory approval processes, SOP writing, eQMS systems, and startup environments.
