Wayve is building an end-to-end AI platform for autonomous driving that enables vehicles to learn from real-world experience and adapt at scale. The Vehicle Generalization team enables efficient, scalable deployment of Wayve's autonomous-driving stack across different vehicle platforms.
In this role, you will debug and stabilize new autonomous-vehicle platforms during bring-up and deployment. Your day-to-day work includes analyzing telemetry, sensor data, logs, and vehicle behavior to identify root causes of issues. You'll tune controls, localization, odometry, sensor fusion, and state-estimation systems to ensure reliable real-world performance. You'll build metrics and tooling to understand vehicle-to-vehicle variability and generalization across platforms, and prototype fixes and debugging utilities in C++ and Python.
You'll collaborate closely with controls, vehicle dynamics, measurement, integration, and application-engineering teams. A significant part of the role involves hands-on support at vehicle and customer sites, including travel domestically and internationally as needed. Your work directly impacts customer programme success and the practical deployment of autonomous systems.
Key focus areas include real-world vehicle-platform bring-up and system integration, controls and localization problems, latency and synchronization issues, signal processing, generalization benchmarks across multiple vehicle platforms, and customer deployments.
Wayve operates a hybrid model based in Sunnyvale with regular hands-on collaboration with vehicles and engineering teams. The company is still in a growth phase where much of how it works is being written, and you'll have real ownership in shaping processes and solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of hands-on robotics, autonomy, or automotive experience
- High proficiency in C++ and comfortable using Python for analysis and prototyping
- Practical experience in controls, state estimation, localization, odometry, or sensor fusion
- Ability to diagnose complex integration issues using data, systems thinking, and direct platform interaction
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguity and communicate effectively across technical teams
- Willingness to work hands-on in Sunnyvale and travel domestically or internationally for customer and vehicle support
The company notes that not meeting every requirement is acceptable if you're passionate about autonomy and keen to learn.
