Salary: USD 90,000 - 163,000 / annual

As a Robotic Systems Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in the product development cycle, from early R&D through continuing engineering for shipped products. You'll work on integrating firmware and hardware subsystems into cohesive robotic systems, bringing prototypes through integration and ensuring optimal performance against requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Integrating firmware and hardware subsystems, managing prototypes through integration phases, and delivering physical prototypes that meet requirements
- Partnering with system architects to create and document visual system descriptions, including subsystem inputs and outputs
- Establishing interfaces between subsystems, defining and refining control algorithms, and designing electro-mechanical subsystems
- Owning management of subsystem and system-level requirements and tracking changes
- Designing comprehensive test plans to validate subsystem and system requirements, executing tests, and analyzing results
- Resolving system-level issues to improve performance and recommending corrective actions to functional teams
- Collaborating closely with design teams to overcome cross-disciplinary challenges
Formlabs has a substantial business serving dental customers with 3D printers and resins, used for applications ranging from in-office production of splints to sophisticated lab-based orthodontics.
Requirements:
- Previous experience designing complex electro-mechanical systems
- Knowledge of motion control, sensors, and control algorithms
- Experience managing system and subsystem requirements
- Strong hardware debugging skills and passion for understanding how systems work
- Scripting experience with Python (preferred), LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar languages
Bonus skills:
- Familiarity with low-level embedded firmware (C++ preferred)
- Experience in data analysis and reporting
- Experience with consumer electronics
