BloomReach is building an agentic platform for personalization, using AI agents to personalize the entire customer journey. The company powers personalization for over 1,400 global brands including American Eagle, Sonepar, and Pandora.
The Data Pipeline team is a backend-focused engineering team responsible for moving customers' data in and out of BloomReach Engagement reliably and at scale. The team processes tens of thousands of requests per second through real-time tracking, imports millions of rows of data continuously, and exports data to Google BigQuery using DataFlows, PySpark, and Apache Beam. Infrastructure runs on Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you will own quality for systems that move huge volumes of customer data in real time across many integrations. You will design and own black-box, API-level, and integration/end-to-end test automation for Data Pipeline services, primarily in the imports domain. You will build and maintain automated test suites in CI/CD (GitLab) that gate deployments and catch regressions across components. You will read Go/Python pipeline code to find gaps and design meaningful test cases. You will drive test strategy in grooming and design reviews, defining test types, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and failure modes on tickets before code is written. You will pair with the current Data Pipeline QA to spread automation and testing practices across the team, and use telemetry and reproduction to turn production incidents into durable, automated regression tests.
The tech stack includes Python (primary) and Go (for reading pipeline code), Robot Framework for API/integration and browser-based E2E testing, CI-driven suites in GitLab with ReportPortal/Allure reporting, and testing against Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, BigQuery, MongoDB, and Redis. You will use GitLab, Jira, and Confluence for collaboration, and AI coding agents like Cursor and Claude Code as part of your daily workflow.
You will join an experienced Senior Quality Engineer already on the team for ramping up and collaboration. The role is remote-first from Central & Eastern Europe, with optional office access in Bratislava, Brno, or Prague.
**Requirements:**
Must have:
- Write test automation in code (integration and API tests in CI, in Python/Go or similar language)
- Read backend/pipeline code (Go or Python) well enough to find gaps and reason about cross-component failures
- Own black-box, API, and integration/end-to-end automation (outside-in layer)
- Work primarily in code and automation; if coming from manual testing background, must be excited to make automation your main craft
- Comfortable in grooming and design from day one with a shift-left mindset
- Ability to learn and adapt when navigating large codebases and data domains mixing tracking, imports, and multiple storages
- Effective in remote-first environments
- Fluent use of AI coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Gemini CLI, or similar) as part of daily workflow
Strongly preferred:
- Prior backend exposure (internship or role writing code or working under a senior with proper testing/automation workflows)
- Experience with ETL/data-pipeline testing: connectors, ingest at scale, data cleanup and transformations, validating data landing in target storages
- Experience testing systems built on Kafka, GCP, or BigQuery
- Familiarity with test frameworks such as Robot Framework, Playwright, or API testing tooling (Postman and beyond)
Personal qualities:
- Ownership: take quality from detection through to durable, automated fix preventing next regression
- Systematic thinking: find root causes, not symptoms; document learnings so team levels up
- Collaboration: make developers better at testing rather than becoming place work gets "thrown over the wall"
- Curiosity: enjoy peeling back a data pipeline to understand what can go wrong and why
