Xcimer Energy is developing inertial fusion energy (IFE) technology to deploy fusion power plants for global decarbonization. This role is a full-time, onsite position at the Denver headquarters.
As a Pulsed Power Manufacturing Engineer, you will optimize production of pulsed power assemblies and integrated products for quality and throughput. You will translate engineering designs into fully operational hardware, optimize existing production lines, and ensure top-notch quality standards. Key responsibilities include:
• Provide DFM/A (design for manufacturing/assembly) input to the product design team to eliminate or simplify processes and tooling
• Author, review, or modify inter-assembly validation procedures (pressure tests, HV checkouts, etc.)
• Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and use
• Create, interpret, and modify work instructions and routings to convey procedures to technicians and trigger material planning and fabrication processes
• Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes by identifying, developing, and deploying methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequences and schedules
• Provide oversight and hands-on assistance during assembly by interdisciplinary technicians
• Define and support repair and rework procedures; disposition non-conformance reports (NCRs) as delegated
• Handle procurement activities for hardware, tools, and facility equipment
• Maintain ongoing operation of equipment and systems
• Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout build and test phases
• Validate assembly and operations safety procedures with interdisciplinary engineers and safety personnel (HV, oil handling, radiation safety, etc.)
• Coach and mentor junior manufacturing engineers and technicians
You will be the first point of contact for production teams when they escalate technical issues. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge fusion technology aimed at revolutionizing energy production.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience within an R&D environment
• Experience developing clear manufacturing work instructions covering fabrication (additive, subtractive, and material joining), assembly, testing, and/or integration processes
• Strong management skills in quality control, build sequence optimization, and schedule adherence throughout manufacturing
• Ability to conduct engineering drawing reviews and provide final approval for manufacturing
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for non-conformances
• Solid understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing principles, including GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
• Proficiency in CAD (Siemens NX), scheduling software, issue tracking systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to learn new software and tools quickly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of supporting manufacturing floor activities, including climbing stairs, working in confined spaces, and lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.
• High level of dexterity to manipulate optics and execute configuration changes without incident
• Experience with pulsed power systems or similar lab environments is a plus
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
