Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems. Engineering is the heart of the organization, and Project Engineers play a critical role in translating engineering ideas into reality on the Electron rocket.
In this role, you will own engineering changes from conception through production, ensuring the vehicle's Bill of Materials and master data remain accurate and up-to-date. You will be the bridge between Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams, keeping the launch manifest on track and managing the fast-paced demands of space operations where deadlines are literally launch windows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading Electron engineering changes from idea to production implementation
- Building cost/benefit cases and business justifications for proposed changes
- Controlling EBOM (Engineering Bill of Materials), MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Materials), and master data releases
- Identifying and catching data errors before they reach the production floor
- Continuously improving the change management process and supporting tools
- Managing risk-based decision-making under tight deadlines
This is a role for someone who thrives in a high-pressure environment, enjoys chasing down details, and wants to see their work directly impact real hardware that launches into space.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Engineering degree required
- Minimum 1+ years of relevant engineering experience
- CAD, drawing, and manufacturing process knowledge
- Engineering change and configuration management experience
- Ability to remain calm under tight deadlines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Risk-based decision-making capability
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- PDM (Product Data Management), ERP, or project management experience
- Knowledge of part numbering and revision schemes
