Anthropic is seeking a Product Designer for Safeguards to join a small, high-impact design team working on products used by millions daily. Design at Anthropic sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition, shaping how people experience AI systems like Claude. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and AI researchers to define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps while shipping features end-to-end. You'll understand the technical architecture of Anthropic's products and define primitives for emerging capabilities. Your work will focus on crafting beautiful, polished, and delightful user interfaces that build trust and showcase AI technology power. You'll define feature areas with exceptional attention to detail, identifying opportunities to improve quality and consistency across broader flows. The role requires comfort working in code, design, and prototypes, and learning new ways to communicate ideas. You'll find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, resource-constrained startup environment. The team values designers who ship fast and stay in motion—people who prefer getting something in front of users this week over perfecting it for a month. You'll question fundamental UI assumptions, invent patterns native to AI, and stay close to emerging model capabilities while maintaining attention to pixels, copy, and edge cases. Anthropnic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco, focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The company operates as a single cohesive team on large-scale research efforts, valuing impact and communication skills. Current hybrid policy requires staff to be in office at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: - Experience designing and shipping complex workflows, enterprise/B2B SaaS, developer tools, or API products end-to-end - Proven track record executing end-to-end on large and complex products, or a series of products, in ambiguous environments - Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking and polished UI craftsmanship - Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma - Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code as a creative partner in your own design practice - Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience - Field of study relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Preferred: - Experience prototyping with front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS) - Passion for crafting scaled, highly impactful, safe and beneficial artificial intelligence technologies
