Salary: USD 295,250 - 345,040 / annual
Roblox is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Engineering Acceleration team, which provides tools and services enabling engineers across the company to build, test, and ship world-class software. In this role, you will design and construct unified user-facing interfaces, engineer AI-powered developer tools, and help engineers oversee changes to their services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with internal engineering teams to gather requirements and develop the service management platform that supports critical user journeys
- Create, influence, and improve front and back-end applications that manage thousands of change rollouts daily
- Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams on cross-functional architectural designs optimized for multiple years into the future
- Develop, mentor, and share best practices with engineering teams to improve automation and efficiency
- Work closely with managers to shape the team's vision and execute it
- Collaborate with a global team building technology for the metaverse
You will be required to be in the San Mateo headquarters office three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday), with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of relevant software engineering work experience (posting also mentions 8+ years in another section)
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, shipping, monitoring, and supporting tools/systems used by other engineers at scale (1000+ engineers)
- Proficiency in both backend and frontend development with knowledge of best practices
- Experience designing and building tools at scale
- Extensive infrastructure and distributed systems experience
- Experience with common cloud technologies
- Hands-on experience with Docker, containers, and CD platforms
- Familiarity with HashiCorp and Kubernetes is a plus
- Proficiency deploying common industry build/test/CI-CD technology
- Full-stack capability with two or more programming languages (Go, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, or similar)
- Customer-focused mindset with ability to work with internal customers to solve complex problems
- Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
