Salary: USD 157,700 - 218,300 / annual
Voyager Technologies is a defense, national security, and space technology company developing mission-critical solutions for advanced propulsion and aerospace systems. This Mechanical Engineer V – Structural Analyst role is part of the Strategic Systems Division and reports to the Analysis and Materials & Processes Team manager.
You will perform advanced structural analysis across hardware systems from concept through qualification and production, with primary responsibilities including:
• Conduct stress analysis using first-principles and advanced analytical methods to quantify safety margins against primary strength failure, fatigue life, and fracture mechanics
• Develop and execute computational FEA models of appropriate fidelity to predict structural response under high pressures, extreme thermal gradients, and vibratory environments
• Collaborate across mechanical design, materials, systems, and chief engineering teams to guide design decisions and manage risk throughout the engineering lifecycle
• Support hardware test design, instrumentation selection, execution, and data processing for validation, verification, and qualification efforts (static, dynamic, shock, and performance testing)
• Contribute to development of closed-form solutions, numerical analysis tools, and data analysis methodologies; implement advanced analysis techniques
• Stay current with advancements in analysis techniques, advanced materials, and industry best practices
• Document analysis processes and results for internal and external stakeholders; communicate complex technical concepts with clarity
This is a remote-eligible position with a preference for in-office work at facilities in Folsom, CA, Reno, NV, Huntsville, AL, or Long Beach, CA. Travel up to 10% of the time is required.
**Requirements:**
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Physics, or related engineering discipline with 10+ years of experience, OR Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Physics with 8+ years of experience
• Hands-on experience with FEA software (Ansys, Femap, Nastran, Abaqus) and proficiency in linear and non-linear static, dynamic, and elastic stability analyses
• Ability to perform duties autonomously with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills; ability to define appropriate scope and requisite inputs for tasks without definite boundaries
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Physics, or related field
• Direct experience with solid rocket motor design and analysis
• Experience with composite structure manufacturing and analysis
• Proficiency with CAD and PLM software (Solidworks, Creo, 3DX, Windchill)
• Scripting and automation experience for analysis workflows (Python, Matlab, Excel)
• Working knowledge of MIL-SPEC, SMC, and NASA specifications (MIL-STD-1522, SMC-S-006/-016, NASA-STD-5012/-5020)
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain and hold DoD security clearance
