Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving that learns directly from real-world experience. The Hardware Engineering team designs and integrates physical systems—compute, sensors, and supporting hardware—into robust, manufacturable solutions for real-world vehicle platforms. In this role, you will design and deliver mechanical integration solutions for sensors and compute across a range of vehicle platforms, working with leading automotive OEM partners. You'll take projects from concept through prototype and into manufacture, owning quality and design trade-offs throughout. This is a hands-on position with direct impact on how systems are built, tested, installed, and scaled. Day-to-day responsibilities include: • Design and integrate mechanical solutions for sensors and compute across multiple vehicle platforms • Own mechanical design trade-offs across performance, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability while maintaining high quality standards • Develop and build HILs, test rigs, jigs, and fixtures to support validation and integration • Produce clear 2D drawings, assemblies, and BOMs, applying GD&T to ensure repeatable builds • Partner with supply chain and external suppliers to source and manufacture parts using sheet metal, machining, vacuum casting, and 3D printing • Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics and other engineering teams to integrate compute and sensor architectures • Create build instructions, inspection checklists, safety/quality documentation, and support knowledge transfer to Fleet and field teams Wayve operates a hybrid working model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company offers competitive salaries benchmarked to market, meaningful equity, relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable, learning and development budgets, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced parental leave, and wellness partnerships. REQUIREMENTS: • 4+ years of experience in mechanical or design engineering with a portfolio of relevant work (portfolio submission required with application) • Proficiency in SolidWorks, ideally including SolidWorks PDM, master model development, and multi-part assemblies • Experience with common manufacturing processes: sheet metal, machining, vacuum casting, and 3D printing, with strong design-for-manufacture judgment • Strong experience designing and building test jigs, rigs, and fixtures; comfort working hands-on in workshop environments • Strong 2D drawing and assembly skills, BOM management experience, and working knowledge of GD&T • Experience with risk assessment methods such as FMEA or DFMEA Nice to have: • Surface modelling experience • Familiarity with aluminium extrusion-based builds • Understanding of electronic systems (voltage basics, harness development, compute selection) • Hands-on FDM printing experience
