Mach Industries, founded in 2023, is a rapidly growing defense technology company with ~350 employees focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. The company operates with startup agility while delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems for the United States and its allies. You will own the processes, stations, and tooling for an assigned area of the vehicle assembly line, taking that area from late-stage prototype builds to full-rate production at Mach's Forge factories. Your primary focus is achieving high first-pass yield at target cycle times while ensuring launch readiness across all builds. Key responsibilities include: **Launch Readiness**: Own launch readiness for your assigned stations or line section from prototype through full-rate production. Track open items against the launch schedule and report status to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer. Work directly with Design Engineering to resolve manufacturability issues, Supply Chain to confirm part availability, Packaging Engineering and Material Flow for part presentation, and Automation and Equipment Engineering for equipment and tooling readiness. Raise risks early with proposed solutions and implement temporary workarounds when needed. **Design for Assembly**: Review parts and assemblies for manufacturability (DFM/A) and recommend changes that reduce part count, simplify assembly, and prevent errors. Prepare and present your area's content in virtual builds, including assembly sequence, hand and tool clearance, tolerance concerns, and part presentation. **Process Development**: Develop the process for your area including build sequence, station content, line balance, and cycle time. Estimate cycle times using predetermined motion time systems (e.g., MODAPTS). Design or specify fixtures, hand tools, lift assists, and fastening equipment. Define process requirements for conveyance and automated cells. Update station layouts with Factory Design and set lineside part-presentation requirements. Support equipment cost estimates, RFQs, vendor design reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT). **Builds and Production Support**: Support prototype builds and manufacturing trials, including prototype tooling. Write and release work instructions and quality gates in the manufacturing execution system (MES). Provide daily floor support during builds and ramp. Track first-pass yield, OEE, and cycle time for your area and fix issues quickly. Use SPC, PFMEA, and structured problem-solving (8D, DMAIC, 5 Whys) to improve quality and throughput. **Senior-Level Scope** (if applicable): Own launch readiness for a full line section or subassembly line and provide go/no-go input for each build. Lead DFM/A reviews and virtual builds for your section. Lead equipment projects from requirements through SAT. Mentor engineers, review their process work, and lead improvement projects spanning multiple areas. You will work closely with the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Vehicle Assembly, Build Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, and Factory Design. The role requires availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed. **Requirements**: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial and Systems, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience - Relevant experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or assembly: 0–4 years for Manufacturing Engineer level (internships, co-ops, and hands-on engineering projects such as Formula SAE count); 5+ years including at least one production launch for Senior Manufacturing Engineer level - Understanding of assembly process design, cycle-time analysis, line balancing, ergonomics, and error-proofing - Hands-on experience with assembly processes, tools, fixtures, or shop-floor equipment - Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and process capability - Working knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, and structured problem-solving - Proficiency in 3D CAD (Siemens NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks) - Ability to keep commitments, follow up with partner teams, and raise problems early - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - ITAR eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State **Preferred Qualifications**: - Experience in high-rate automotive, aerospace, or defense assembly - Experience supporting a new product launch or production ramp - Experience with conveyance, automated assembly cells, or controls - Experience with manufacturing process planning tools (Heliux, DELMIA, EasyPlan) and MES platforms - Knowledge of PMTS methods and NIOSH ergonomic standards - Experience creating layouts in AutoCAD - Experience with discrete-event simulation software (Simio, Simul8) - Lean Six Sigma training or certification - Experience working in an ITAR-controlled environment
