Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) team in Irvine, California. The EW Manufacturing Team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware, with ownership spanning the entire manufacturing value chain.
In this role, you will drive process improvements, ensure highest quality production, and support development and implementation of new products. You will optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, increase efficiencies on existing technologies, and develop new products while scaling to full production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain including Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) for electro-mechanical assemblies
- Contribute to operational excellence with continuous improvement mindset and lead Kaizen events
- Partner with Product Quality Engineering to drive RCCA burndowns addressing internal and external production issues
- Collaborate with Design Engineering teams in early to late development phases to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFx) support for smooth new product introduction (NPI) transitions
- Develop process flows, breaking down complex assemblies into logical part flows and sub-processes
- Write manufacturing documentation including work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements
- Work with contract manufacturers (PCBA fab, harnesses, electrical components, antennas, radios) to develop repeatable processes for quick-turn development and at-scale production
- Work hands-on with technicians and engineers building prototype hardware
- Contribute to end-customer hardware mechanical or electrical design, including interconnects, board fabrication, and inspection
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in a technical field preferred (engineering, math, or hard science)
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware
- Demonstrated ability to creatively and effectively deliver electromechanical hardware in resource-constrained environments
- Experience with harness or PCBA design review
- Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware via any means (soldering, SMT, harnessing, box assembly, etc.); work on personal or extracurricular projects is a plus
- Prior experience working with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), or Oracle (ERP) or equivalents
- Genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with RF products requiring system AI&T (assembly, integration, and test)
- Exposure to or interest in scaling product testing and production
- Hands-on experience with software & firmware flashing or end-of-line testing & troubleshooting
- Software scripting experience in any language
