FIS is seeking a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer to join their Columbus, GA office on a hybrid basis (up to 3 days in-office). This role works throughout the software development lifecycle, designing, coding, debugging, and maintaining applications with expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, IMS, DB2, CICS, and File Manager. You will participate in all phases of software development using Agile Scrum methodology, creating new software products and supporting multiple projects. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering moderately complex program specifications, providing in-depth analysis and modification of complex code, unit testing, and developing application documentation. You'll advise leadership on business and infrastructure application standards, compliance controls, and data accuracy monitoring. The role requires strong collaboration within mixed teams of developers, analysts, and product owners. You'll be accountable for gathering and verifying non-functional requirements, reviewing architectures and designs, and ensuring adherence to standards including PCI security compliance. Active participation in agile ceremonies, maintaining project documentation, and advocating for development team priorities are core responsibilities. You'll work on both internal and external client software solutions, participate in client-facing meetings, and provide on-the-job training and expertise to junior engineers. The position involves developing resource estimates on complex initiatives and recommending billable hours. Required skills: COBOL, IMS, DB2, mainframe, CICS, File Manager, Agile/Scrum methodology. Knowledge of Card Management, Statements, Customer Service, and Correspondence systems is a plus. Minimum qualification is a BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with relevant experience.
