Showpad is seeking a Java Backend Engineer (L2) to join the engineering team in Pune. This is a hands-on backend engineering role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications using modern cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
- Work with relational databases and write efficient SQL queries
- Deploy and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS, and ECS/EKS
- Troubleshoot application issues and contribute to production support and performance improvements
- Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience building scalable backend applications and enjoys solving backend engineering problems. This role is suited for engineers with 4+ years of experience who demonstrate strong technical depth and hands-on project experience. Candidates from product, SaaS, or strong enterprise technology environments are particularly welcome.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Java
- Strong experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework
- Experience developing REST APIs / RESTful web services
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Microservices architecture
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent)
- Hands-on AWS experience is mandatory (actual project/deployment experience, not just certifications)
- Good understanding of backend application development, debugging, and performance optimization
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Preferred: Experience with EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS, or AWS Serverless services
