Town is an applied AI company building a persistent AI assistant that observes, learns, and acts on behalf of users across email, calendar, docs, Slack, and CRM. Founded by Jean-Denis Greze (former CTO of Plaid) and Tony Vincent (former Director of Applied AI Product at Google), the company recently raised a $55M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz.
As Founding Technical Recruiter, you will own full-cycle technical recruiting to build Town's engineering team. This is a high-leverage role at a critical growth stage where hiring caliber directly impacts company trajectory.
Key responsibilities include: leading full-cycle technical recruiting across engineering disciplines (staff backend, AI/ML product, growth, and some product & design); owning candidate experience from first touchpoint through close with high-touch, swift, and thoughtful engagement; building and maintaining recruiting infrastructure including interview loops, evaluation criteria, and systems that enable a small team to scale hiring; and leveraging Town's product to make sourcing, outreach, and coordination more efficient.
You'll partner closely with founders and hiring managers who have strong technical judgment and clear hiring standards. The role requires someone with 4+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, ideally at high-growth startups, with a proven track record hiring staff-level engineers (backend, AI/ML, infrastructure). You should be conversant enough with technical work to evaluate engineers credibly, enjoy building relationships across the recruiting lifecycle, and operate with high agency and ownership. Exceptional writing skills, warmth, and precision in representing the company are essential. AI curiosity and hands-on experience using AI tools to improve recruiting effectiveness are expected. The role is based in San Francisco's Financial District with a five-days-per-week in-office requirement.
