First Resonance is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to serve as an elite technical problem-solver deployed to customer sites. You will work directly with manufacturers of eVTOLs, rockets, robots, and autonomous vehicles, understanding their operational challenges and developing tailor-made software solutions that integrate with ION, First Resonance's manufacturing operations platform. In this role, you will be the ultimate technical expert on-site, collaborating closely with customer engineering teams to design new features, automate laborious processes, and debug production-blocking issues. You will own end-to-end delivery of high-stakes projects, from concept through implementation, while maintaining strong customer relationships and satisfaction. Your responsibilities include implementing and extending ION, developing custom web applications, managing large-scale data challenges, writing production-quality code, and serving as the bridge between customer needs and First Resonance product development. You will work in small, autonomous teams with entrepreneurial ownership. Travel to customer sites is required up to 40% of the time. The role demands excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical engineers and non-technical stakeholders, plus the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. First Resonance accelerates hardware development for companies building the next generation of products in space exploration, electric aviation, autonomous vehicles, nuclear reactors, and robotics. The company combines software, hardware, and manufacturing engineering expertise to modernize an industry traditionally rigid in innovation, providing tools that help manufacturing engineers move information freely, collaborate effectively, and leverage data science to predict problems and improve quality and delivery. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders - Demonstrated experience shipping production-quality code - Ability to collaborate effectively in dynamic, cross-functional environments - Willingness to travel up to 40% to customer sites DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in manufacturing, as a Product Manager, or as a Lead Engineer - Proficiency with Python and/or React (TypeScript) - Experience or curiosity working with large-scale data to solve customer-facing problems - Comfort in fast-paced, startup-like atmospheres with entrepreneurial mindset
