Impulse is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate software for space vehicles. You will work on guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms, command and telemetry handling, mission sequencing, autonomy, and fault management systems. The role involves implementing features for a real-time flight software framework that meets deterministic performance requirements in space environments, developing detection and mitigation algorithms for anomalies such as sensor failures, actuator malfunctions, and radiation-induced faults. You will participate in code reviews to ensure compliance with software safety, reliability, and maintainability standards, and support mission operations by troubleshooting real-time issues during ground integration, environmental testing, and on-orbit operations. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring close collaboration with avionics, GNC, propulsion, and other cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-reliability, high-performance software for in-space transportation systems. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 2+ years of C++ experience in embedded systems or vehicle software (robots, cars, drones, spacecraft). You should demonstrate strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and networking, with experience in Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) or Embedded Linux, and familiarity with version control, test cases, and software best practices.
