Formlabs is seeking a Field Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers across the UK and Ireland region. This is a highly mobile role requiring 80%+ travel time, where you will manage the complete customer lifecycle from equipment installation and commissioning through user training and on-site repairs. Key Responsibilities: Installation & Customer Training: Travel to customer sites to unpack, install, commission, and calibrate 3D printing systems. Conduct structured on-site training sessions teaching customers how to operate machinery, utilize software, and perform basic maintenance. Perform live product demonstrations to build customer confidence. Break-Fix & Maintenance: Respond rapidly to customer downtime emergencies, traveling on short notice to perform urgent repairs. Manage a preventative maintenance schedule ensuring all warrantied customers receive service within 90-day target windows. Diagnose electromechanical issues and achieve single-visit resolutions to minimize travel and customer downtime. Logistics & Reporting: Execute high-volume customer visits. Independently manage complex travel schedules (flights, trains, hotels, rental cars) and submit expenses on time. Maintain detailed records of installations, training sessions, and repairs in Salesforce. Requirements: - Based in London, Manchester, or Dublin (highly preferred for hub connectivity) - Energized by travel; willing to be on the road 80%+ of the time - Strong technical background in electromechanical/hardware systems - Excellent soft skills for teaching and customer communication - Fluency in English (C1-C2 level); ability to explain complex technical concepts simply and effectively - Valid driver's license (Category B) Bonus Skills: - Fluency in German or French - Passion for 3D printing and emerging technologies - Experience in rapidly-growing startup environments
