Wayve is building embodied AI that enables vehicles to drive safely and autonomously. The Runtime Platform team owns the application frameworks, middleware, performance capabilities, and observability foundations that support Wayve's AI Driver operating onboard vehicles in real time. As Engineering Manager for this growing team, you will lead a single team and be accountable for delivery, engagement, resourcing, roadmap, and performance. People leadership is your first priority: you'll coach and develop engineers, maintain a high-performing team, and lead hiring and onboarding as the team scales. You'll combine people leadership with strong technical judgment, establishing direction across latency, profiling, real-time scheduling, middleware, and observability. Working closely with technical leads and stakeholders, you'll own the outcomes of technical decisions and ensure the roadmap supports Wayve's broader goals. Key responsibilities include: - Leading and developing the team through effective one-to-ones, clear expectations, regular feedback, performance management, and career development support - Owning hiring and onboarding to ensure the right people are in the right roles and shaping team culture - Driving execution by staffing committed programs, aligning roadmap with resources, prioritizing effectively, and holding the team accountable for delivery, quality, and operational reliability - Setting technical direction in partnership with technical leads and stakeholders across system design, application frameworks, middleware, IPC, performance optimization, and observability - Enabling new vehicle platforms through incremental development while minimizing performance degradation - Strengthening quality through continuous integration, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and internal quality gates - Collaborating across Vehicle Software, model development, hardware, and OEM program teams - Acting as the team's escalation point, surfacing risks and dependencies early Wayve operates a hybrid model with core working hours, allowing flexibility while maintaining in-person collaboration in London offices and workshops. The company has additional hubs in Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg.
