Wayve is building an end-to-end AI platform for autonomous driving that enables vehicles to learn directly from real-world experience. The company is pioneering a mapless, hardware-agnostic approach to autonomy that works across global OEM partners. As Engineering Manager for the OS team, you will lead a single team responsible for building and maintaining the operating-system foundations for Wayve's onboard software stack. The OS team provides the frameworks, observability capabilities, and foundational layers that other vehicle-software components, model developers, and hardware teams depend on. You'll work closely with Vehicle Software, model developers, hardware teams, and OEM programs to enable Wayve's AI Driver across new vehicles, compute platforms, and other embodiments. Your primary focus will be people leadership. You'll coach and develop engineers, maintain a healthy and high-performing team, and lead hiring and onboarding as the team grows. You'll establish the team's technical direction, identify work with the greatest business impact, and align the roadmap with available resources. In partnership with technical leads and stakeholders, you'll guide technical decisions across system design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You'll serve as the team's escalation point, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities to unblock delivery. Key responsibilities include: running effective one-to-ones and providing regular high-quality feedback; owning hiring, onboarding, and team culture; staffing committed programs and holding the team accountable for delivery, quality, and operational reliability; establishing clear technical direction and ownership of technology-roadmap milestones; guiding the OS roadmap across architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement; supporting new hardware platforms through incremental development; implementing strong continuous integration and hardware-in-the-loop testing; collaborating on board bring-up and scaling new platforms; optimizing build, packaging, and deployment systems for heterogeneous environments; establishing quality metrics and automated testing for deployments ranging from one to 10,000 units; and partnering across Wayve teams to resolve cross-functional dependencies. Wayve operates a hybrid model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company combines in-person collaboration with focused remote work time. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong track record of leading, growing, engaging, and retaining a high-performing software or systems team - Experience hiring, coaching, providing feedback, managing performance, and supporting engineers' career development - Owned a team roadmap and delivered through others, including planning, prioritization, resourcing, and accountability for quality and operational reliability - Hands-on experience architecting and delivering embedded software shipped in a physical product to real customers - Understanding of high-performance, low-latency embedded software, preferably in C or C++, with ability to earn trust of senior engineers without being the top individual contributor - Solid understanding of Linux kernel fundamentals, device trees, board support packages, embedded build and packaging systems, software updates, and over-the-air deployment - Understanding of QNX fundamentals, security, and robust software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing - Broad experience developing reliable, high-performance peripheral drivers across low- and high-speed devices, including PCIe - Ability to set direction and deliver through influence across multiple stakeholder teams - Experience managing direct reports across different time zones and leading projects involving external partners or vendors VALUABLE BUT NOT REQUIRED: - Experience with software and hardware architectures implementing high-reliability fault tolerance - NVIDIA DriveOS - Microkernel or real-time operating systems such as QNX - NVIDIA Jetson or Drive platforms - Qualcomm, AMD, or Renesas compute platforms
