Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing cybersecurity company building NodeZero, an autonomous penetration testing platform that helps organizations proactively identify and fix exploitable attack vectors before criminals exploit them. The platform is used by ITOps/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and MSSPs/MSPs across organizations ranging from educational institutions to Global 100 enterprises. You will lead the EDR remediation team, which closes the loop between offensive security findings and defensive action. This is a highly technical management role where you'll lead a team of backend engineers and security practitioners with deep EDR expertise. You'll own hiring, team growth, and operational scaling while maintaining technical depth to evaluate designs, challenge estimates, and unblock the team. Key responsibilities include: - Leading, mentoring, and growing a team of backend engineers and security practitioners, with clear career paths for each member - Translating ambiguous goals into sequenced, deliverable work while actively managing scope - Partnering closely with a staff-level technical lead on architecture and with Product on roadmap sequencing - Staying technically engaged enough to challenge assumptions and unblock the team without being the primary implementer - Establishing operational discipline: design review, release practices, on-call, and incident response - Managing dependencies and stakeholder relationships across engineering teams - Holding quality and safety bars under schedule pressure The role requires building an environment where diverse skill sets and different working cadences compound rather than collide as the team scales. REQUIREMENTS: - Familiarity with EDR or security operations sufficient to partner effectively with domain experts - Proven experience leading highly technical backend or platform engineering teams, ideally within SaaS, cybersecurity, or cloud-scale environments - Track record delivering products under fixed dates with ambiguous requirements and active scope management - Strong dependency and stakeholder management across multiple engineering teams, with a habit of surfacing risks and tradeoffs early and in writing - Understanding of security and reliability best practices in multi-tenant SaaS - Experience partnering with staff-level technical leads, with clear understanding of where management ends and technical ownership begins - Ability to hold quality/safety bars under schedule pressure and escalate scope tradeoffs rather than absorb them PREFERRED: - Familiarity with agentic or LLM-backed systems in production and realistic understanding of failure modes - Background in security operations, detection engineering, or offensive security - Experience leading platform teams whose customers were other internal engineering teams - Exposure to event-driven architectures or streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, Flink, or similar)
