As Engineering Manager of the Cohere APIs and Developer Experience team, you will lead a talented group of backend and full-stack engineers responsible for the Cohere inference APIs, SDKs, and Dashboard—the customer-facing portal for accessing models, managing teams, and auditing billing.
In this hands-on leadership role, you will mentor and grow your team while shifting seamlessly between strategist, technologist, and people leader. You'll collaborate with Modeling and Model Serving teams to develop new API capabilities, work with UX designers to ensure intuitive customer experiences, and oversee open-source projects. You'll participate in model releases and help shape the future of large language models at enterprise scale.
Key responsibilities include managing and mentoring backend and full-stack engineers, participating in product releases, collaborating across teams (Modeling, Model Serving, Design), overseeing open-source initiatives, and contributing hands-on to the codebase. You'll balance strategic planning with technical execution, ensuring the team delivers high-quality software that serves a large number of internal and external stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience managing engineering teams with a track record of delivering high-quality software
- Experience shipping products with large numbers of stakeholders
- Comfort across front and back end of the stack; prior work with Go, Next.js, TypeScript, and React preferred
- Passion for recruiting, growing people, and building team rapport; commitment to regular 1:1s
- Excellent communication skills and belief in documentation as a tool for feedback and technical discussion
- Ability to translate complex needs into clear explanations for diverse audiences
- Excitement about AI and motivation to scale a company
