Salary: USD 200,000 - 315,000 / annual

The Access Control team develops software that securely manages millions of door events daily, connecting cloud services, mobile apps, web applications, and edge hardware into a seamless customer experience.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of frontend and backend software engineers through coaching, regular feedback, and career development. You'll own delivery for major customer-facing initiatives from concept through production, partnering closely with Product Management, Design, Firmware, Mobile, and other engineering teams to define roadmaps and execute against ambitious goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and growing a team of frontend and backend engineers
- Owning delivery for major customer-facing initiatives from concept to production
- Partnering with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Firmware, Mobile) on roadmaps and execution
- Driving technical direction while empowering engineers to make architectural decisions
- Fostering engineering excellence through code reviews, design discussions, testing, and operational discipline
- Building highly reliable, observable, and scalable distributed systems handling millions of real-time events
- Improving engineering processes, execution, and team health
- Participating in hiring and building an exceptional engineering organization
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant experience in Python, Go, or React
- 1+ years managing software engineers
- Experience building production software across both frontend and backend systems
- Strong software architecture and system design skills
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems in production
- Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional technical projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to attract, hire, mentor, and retain exceptional engineers
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
