Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning from real-world experience. The company is pioneering a mapless, hardware-agnostic approach that enables vehicles to learn, adapt, and improve at scale.
You will join the Production Software team within Vehicle SW Engineering, a high-impact role helping to define foundational components and engineering practices as the team scales to 5–6 engineers. This team builds the core software infrastructure that allows self-driving models to interface with vehicles, be tested, and run safely in production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, build, and maintain core C++ and Python software components that interface self-driving models with vehicle and embedded systems
- Develop infrastructure to communicate with, run, and test self-driving capabilities, kept separate from ML model development
- Own reliability and performance of key systems across Linux-based environments
- Build tooling and diagnostics for testing and validation
- Specialize in one domain area—such as localization/navigation/mapping, filtering/diagnostics, or control/inference—while collaborating across domains
- Partner with distributed teams across London, Israel, and the US to integrate changes, resolve cross-team issues, and support releases
You will work on mission-critical, performance-sensitive systems sitting between advanced ML models and embedded/vehicle platforms, with opportunities to grow your expertise in your chosen specialization.
Wayve operates a hybrid model combining in-person collaboration in dedicated office spaces with focused remote work. The company has main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Exceptional C++ proficiency with a track record of writing performance-sensitive, production-quality code
- Strong Python skills for tooling, integration, and/or test infrastructure
- Solid Linux experience, including development, debugging, and operating in Linux environments
- Embedded systems familiarity, with experience interfacing software with hardware or vehicle systems
- Automotive experience is a strong plus but not required
The posting notes that not meeting every requirement is acceptable if you are passionate about autonomy and keen to learn.
