Plasma is building a global money account platform using stablecoins to enable fast, cheap, and reliable cross-border payments for consumers and businesses. You will be Plasma's first dedicated data hire, responsible for building the data function from the ground up. You will own the entire data platform end-to-end: designing and building the Snowflake warehouse, implementing data ingestion pipelines from production systems and third-party providers, and creating the modelled data layer that the rest of the company depends on. Initially, you'll build much of this yourself; as the function grows, you'll define tools, set standards, and hire the team. Key responsibilities include: - Defining core metrics (funded users, activation, engagement, balances, spend, retention) and ensuring consistent definitions across teams - Partnering with the Consumer team to analyze user behavior across regions and segments, translating insights into product decisions - Designing and analyzing experiments with rigorous statistical judgment - Working with Payments and Finance to ensure data integrity across ledgers, providers, and banking partners; handling revenue reporting and unit economics - Identifying fraudulent and abusive patterns in onboarding, funding, card spend, and transfers; building signals and rules for risk and operations teams - Implementing data quality, testing, access control, and PII handling as core platform features - Making deliberate tool choices and setting standards as the company scales You are a senior, hands-on data practitioner with a proven track record of both building data platforms and using them to drive decisions. You have deep SQL and data modeling expertise, with enough engineering capability to build and operate production pipelines. You're comfortable starting with minimal infrastructure and designing systems that scale. You excel at communicating findings to non-technical leaders and translating analysis into actionable decisions. You write clean, tested code and lead through technical decisions. You have high agency and proactively identify high-impact problems. Nice-to-have experience includes: early or founding data hire at a fast-growing fintech; real money data experience (payments, cards, ledgers, settlement, chargebacks, FX); hands-on fraud or financial-crime analytics; stablecoin and on-chain data familiarity; data team hiring and growth; machine learning in production for fraud, risk, or personalization. Requirements: - Senior-level hands-on data practitioner with track record of building data platforms and using them - Deep SQL and data modeling skills with production pipeline engineering capability - Ability to start from minimal infrastructure and design for scale - Strong judgment on speed vs. rigor, build vs. buy tradeoffs - Ability to translate analysis into clear decisions for non-technical leaders - Clear communication, clean tested code, technical leadership - High agency and proactive problem identification
