TRM Labs is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to lead the maturation of the company's cloud infrastructure and security systems at scale. TRM provides AI-powered intelligence solutions for public and private sector agencies to investigate and disrupt crime, helping trace illicit activity and construct threat network operating pictures.
In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and cybersecurity expert across the organization, providing guidance on architecture, configuration management, and environment design. You will leverage automation tools, infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions like Terraform, and configuration management to standardize security across all environments. You'll guide stakeholders including engineering, product, and leadership to ensure alignment with security strategies, and identify cloud platform vulnerabilities while communicating mitigation options that balance business agility with security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical guidance and leadership on cloud security architecture, configuration management, and environment design
- Designing and implementing security strategies using automation, IaC, and configuration management tools
- Serving as a Cloud Security Subject Matter Expert (SME), maintaining knowledge of industry-recognized cloud security technologies and actively assisting business lines
- Driving security improvements in the GCP environment and managing Identity and Access Management (IAM) to maintain least privilege and role-based access control principles
- Participating in security audits with external auditors and internal resources
- Guiding relevant stakeholders to understand security needs and develop secure business solutions
- Embedding security early in development through CI/CD pipeline integration and just-in-time developer training

REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant industry experience managing cloud security programs, Identity Access Management (IAM), and cloud-native security solutions (e.g., firewalls)
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud infrastructure components, preferably with GCP
- Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and create urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to audit and provide audit support for security controls within cloud environments
- Experience with infrastructure vulnerability testing tools, Cloud Application Platforms (Heroku), and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform)
- AI fluency expected: ability to apply AI to accelerate workflows, structure problems, improve output quality, and increase speed and leverage
- Comfort operating with high ambiguity, high ownership, and adaptability in a fast-moving environment
