Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the technical development of maritime autonomous weapon systems from concept through delivery. You will serve as a technical leader within the Maritime Division, responsible for planning and executing the product and revenue roadmap for maritime missions. In this role, you will lead and manage the initial design, prototyping, capability verification, and delivery of maritime autonomous systems. You will develop system architecture, define requirements, conduct systems engineering and trade analyses, and manage risk to ensure alignment with key performance parameters, schedule, costs, and risks. Working closely with Anduril's Strategy team and strategic opportunity customers, you will ensure requirements are tied to customer inputs with full traceability to program office technical decisions. You will coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to embed design-for-manufacturing principles in early concepts and scale to full-rate production. You will oversee technical execution of new surface products for Anduril Maritime, define key capabilities and milestones, and enable continuous development and maturation of autonomous systems. Your diverse spectrum of support will require leveraging both technical expertise and leadership skills to set objectives, build cross-functional teams, and drive rapid completion. You will work with senior leadership to ensure adequate resource planning for work scope and travel approximately 25% to customer and test sites. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Systems Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent, or proven experience in a relevant field - Minimum 15 years of experience with technical leadership and systems engineering on defense systems or weapon programs - Strong systems engineering and architecture definition background to bridge software and hardware product developments - Strong working understanding of how product development integrates into program acquisitions, ensuring alignment of hardware/software roadmaps and program requirements - Strong leadership qualities and demonstrated collaborative/integrative leadership capacity - Experience working with, defining, and fielding sensing payloads and communications architectures - Ability to support and/or manage technological roadmaps in critical areas to enable collaborative design and capability alignment - Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance - Willingness to travel 25% to customer and test sites PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Demonstrated understanding of multi-domain unmanned and autonomous weapon system development and employment - Demonstrated engineering management capability with proven technical and personnel leadership qualities - Experience in technical leadership of weapon or defense system programs from initial concept design through transition to full development, testing, qualification, and rate manufacture - Strong understanding of autonomous system architecture and overall design approach for unmanned weapons systems - Experience working on mission-critical DOD systems - Experience building and managing cross-functional teams focused around a common vision
