Level Zero Health is a venture-backed biosensor startup (backed by SOSV and Entrepreneur First, recognized as a top 20 startup at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024) pioneering next-generation electrochemical biosensor technology for real-time monitoring of critical endocrine biomarkers. Founded by experienced engineers, the company is focused on delivering clinical-grade health data directly to individuals.
You will join as a Biosensor Research Scientist, leading R&D efforts in electrochemical biosensor design and optimization. Your responsibilities include:
• Design, prototype, and optimize electrochemical biosensor systems focused on small molecule analytes and aptamer-based recognition elements
• Apply surface chemistry and electrode modification strategies to enhance sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and performance in complex biological samples
• Translate biorecognition element–target interactions into measurable, reproducible sensor outputs through novel assay design
• Apply electrochemical methods (voltammetry, impedimetry, chronoamperometry) to characterize and evaluate biosensor function
• Use data-driven approaches including Python-based analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize workflows
• Systematically troubleshoot technical and conceptual challenges, proposing innovative solutions
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring experimental reproducibility and quality compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (chemists, biologists, engineers, data scientists) to advance prototypes from concept to application
• Present results through written reports, oral presentations, and scientific publications
• Attend R&D trainings and seminars on emerging trends in hormone sensing
This is a full-time, in-person role based in London with opportunities to travel to New York and other R&D sites. You'll work directly with the founding team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on transforming personalized health monitoring.
