Mytos is a regenerative medicine company developing fully-automated cell manufacturing sites powered by custom robotics to scale therapies to millions of patients. The company has announced partnerships across multiple therapies (Parkinson's, hearing loss, bone repair) and raised $24M to accelerate market expansion. Within 12-18 months, neurons grown on Mytos machines will enter Parkinson's patient trials. The team includes ex-Dyson engineers and Nature-published scientists, backed by Y Combinator.
You will join the Biology team as a hands-on Associate Scientist, working at the interface of engineering and biology. You'll start with well-defined, SOP-based work packages and grow toward independent execution through structured training and mentoring from senior scientists.
Core responsibilities include:
- Running experiments across process development, product testing, and new platform R&D, then presenting results to the team to inform how processes and platforms evolve
- Maintaining the team's iPSC lines and differentiation cultures, including feeding, passaging, cryopreservation, and banking
- Contributing to lab operations as part of the maintenance rota (stock checks, waste, autoclaving, cleaning hoods and incubators, shared equipment upkeep)
You'll generate data that shapes process and platform development, with your work feeding directly into process development, new platform R&D, and lab operations.
Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related discipline
- Hands-on laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture with strong aseptic technique
- Experience running standard assays for cell characterization (cell counts and viability, flow cytometry, plate reader-based assays) and preparing reagents and media accurately
- Strong attention to detail: consistent SOP adherence, high-standard documentation, prompt reporting of deviations and equipment issues
- Understanding of good experimental design principles, including controls and replicates
- Ability to collate, analyze, and present data clearly using standard tools (Excel, GraphPad Prism)
- Excellent organization: manage multiple concurrent tasks and plan around cell culture schedules
- Clear communicator comfortable reporting progress and raising risks, blockers, and delays
- Collaborative, team-first attitude with willingness to contribute to lab organization and operations
Desired experience:
- Routine iPSC/ESC culture (feeder-free maintenance, passaging, cryopreservation) and differentiation
- Standard stem cell characterization assays (flow cytometry, ICC, qPCR)
- Experience working on hardware systems that interface with biology
